White House

White House is situated on a 1.5-acre, south-facing plot on a hill within a large private estate south of Oxshott. Though the existing house was only around 10 years old, its design did not fully utilise the site’s potential or take advantage of the far-reaching views. After assessing the limitations of the original design, it was agreed that demolishing the existing house and rebuilding would give the clients a home they always wanted. As new build is VAT exempt, the comparative costs to fully refurbish and extend or rebuild did not vary a great deal. The site’s topography allowed for a house of three storeys at the front and four at the rear, which enabled the inclusion of a lower ground-level swimming pool and fitness suite with direct access to the garden.

The upper ground floor was designed to maximise the connection between the interior spaces and the garden, with a kitchen, dining, and living room opening onto a wide terrace that leads down to the garden via circular steps. Formal accommodation, including reception rooms, is located on the right-hand side of the house, while the left-hand side accommodates more casual living areas. A grand marble-floored entrance hallway provides access to a four-storey circular atrium, which connects all levels of the house, ensuring a sense of flow throughout the home.

The top floor features expansive south-facing windows offering sweeping views over the large garden and woods beyond. At 14,000 sqft, the house offers everything expected of a prestigious property in this sought-after area of Surrey. The accommodation includes an indoor pool, a fitness suite, a cinema, a triple garage with staff quarters, and various other amenities suited to modern living on a private estate.
