Tower House

Tower House is a substantial residence, constructed in the 1880s and prominently positioned on top of a hill in Oxshott. This Grade II listed property is set within approximately 4 acres of mature landscaped grounds. Originally measuring around 12,000 sqft, the house was extended to approximately 16,000 sqft in the early 20th century. However, like many large homes of the era, it proved too spacious for a single family and was subdivided in the 1950s.

In the 1990s, our clients acquired one portion of the house and dedicated 15 years to acquiring the remaining sections. Their aim was to restore the property as a single dwelling while extending it to create a super-prime residence of around 30,000 sqft. This ambitious project required careful planning and a sensitive approach to the historic elements of the building, ensuring that the new design harmonised with the existing architecture.

The design features a large ground floor swimming pool and fitness centre, a new four-storey tower, and an expansive entrance terrace. An extensive basement was also incorporated, providing parking for 20 cars, a large secure storage area, a security office, an extensive wine cellar, and a commercial-sized kitchen. This thoughtful combination of modern amenities and historical preservation aims to transform Tower House into a luxurious family home while respecting its architectural heritage. Apart from the scale of this house, its other unique feature is the newly constructed tower with 360ยบ panoramic views over Surrey.
