Red House

Located on a road of period Arts & Crafts houses, the former house sat uncomfortably amongst its neighbours. The clients wanted something to be proud to call home, so briefed us to demolish and rebuild the house in the Arts & Crafts style. The combination of asymmetric and symmetrical treatments typical of the Arts & Crafts style and the use of traditional materials associated with that period enabled us to create a much-loved home.

The stone entrance portico provides an appropriately grand entrance feature, while the three storey high green oak feature window on the rear elevation ensures that the hallway and staircase are flooded with natural light. The rest of the house has thermally broken metal casement windows in hardwood frames which look traditional but comply with current regulations.

The siting of the house on a hill provides stunning views of Surrey. The garden was carefully designed and the use of hard and soft landscaping and split levels enhances this house in its setting.
